Want to hear a funny?
I started watching one of the best classical movies (Turner Classic Movies: TCM CLASSIC MOVIES), I Know Where I'm Going.
It is a fantastic movie set during WWII about a young woman who "knows where" she is going. She is determined to have the best things in life, even if it means marrying a man close to her father's age. Unfortunately, something unforeseen stops her from reaching the last point of her goal, the weather!
During an action-packed scene where it looks like all is lost for the two major characters, they might perish in a sea of whirlpools, but the magnificent ingenuity of our hero saves them.
However, during one of the most dangerous dioramas of the film, it was like surround sound in and around my house. Thunder was rolling over my head, and lightning was flashing outside. It was like I was experiencing the squall like the characters. (Tornado warning sirens had gone off earlier in the evening.) Crazy!
At any rate, it is a fantastic movie. I only wish it had been able to be filmed in color. The majestic scenery of Scotland and the Hebrides.
FUN FACTS:
The telephone booth with the waterfall behind it does exist there.
The Moy Castle is there, though it goes by a different name, and the interior is not the same.
The hotel actually exists (or existed) at one time.
Wendy Hiller's hat cost 80 pounds, which would cost $7,693.38 today!
Actor David Niven heard screaming on a set and ran to see what the matter was. Roger Livesey and Wendy Hiller were in a boat, screaming at each other for the scene. David Niven said, "Where is the fight and how can I join in?"
